Now it seems there has been some confusion as of late regarding the
Madden 2005 rule book.Despite what some may think,this game has nothing
to do with NFL rules at all.So,to clear up a few of the problems that
people have had understanding the rules I've asked Madden himself to
write me some of the rules to his game so people wouldn't be wondering
what the hell happened.He sent me a list and I know it was from him
because it had BBQ sauce on it.
Penalties
Pass Interference-Pass Interference is a simple rule,it's called when,and
only when, a player is hit with the hit stick while the ball is in the
air.Anything else such as,slowing someone up or bumping them away from
the ball is just fine.
Facemask-Facemask penalties are called any time the ref feels like
it.It's always called when the facemask is grabbed,but can also be called
whenever someone is grabbed in the foot.These are usually 5 yard penalties.
Holding-These are also random.Although they are normally called whenever
a big play breaks downfield.
Roughing the Passer-What is this rule? Clipping-These are called whenever
a play is not considered a BOOM! play.They are also called when a big
play occurs.
Most other rules are the same as the NFL.Those above are noted from
personal experience.
Game Play Rules
Forward Progress-What the fuck?Madden don't know what this is.
Catching-Any pass that is caught,regardless of whether or not it is
thrown out of bounds is considered a catch.
Fumbles-These happen anytime.Even on incomplete passes.They can only
be picked up by the player that recieves "Madden Suction".
Squib Kicks-Any Squib Kick must go out of bounds.This can not be changed,it
must always go out of bounds.
Patriots-The Patriots must be the dominant team.Despite being a 90
offense and a 90 defense they must defy the laws of man and be given
a 99 overall rating.They can also never throw interceptions nor lose
fumbles.
Physics-The ball must always take impossible bounces whenever it hits
the ground.It is also like a piece of metal on squibs and the sideline
is like a magnet.
Back walls-Any player and/or football is allowed to take on ghost like
properties and walk through the back wall in any and every stadium.
Clock Stoppages-The clock is only stopped whenever Madden feels like
it.However,it can be stopped within the last two minutes regardless
of what Madden thinks.
Madden-He must at no time make any sense what so ever.If he does,it
must be an obvious fact that everyone knows.
Well,I hope this helped you learn some of the basic rules of the road
